Heritage Roses Care Project

We are excited to announce a wonderful project led by Heritage Roses in Australia (HRIA) that aims to identify, care for and expand our collection of heritage roses within the cemetery.

Roses have been a part of Boroondara Cemetery since 1860 and remain a key part of the beautiful garden cemetery landscape. There are over 900 roses alone in the rose memorial garden, and more spread across the entirety of the grounds. A number of these roses are heritage roses, which are rose varieties that existed prior to modern hybridisation. These heritage roses are often no longer available to purchase commercially, and are of significant historical importance.

If you have an interest in roses we invite you to join us in caring for our beautiful collection of heritage roses!
